Júlia Machado is a filmmaker and independent artist-researcher whose practice unfolds at the intersection of image and embodied experience. Her work engages the porous boundaries between documentary and fiction through relational and process-oriented approaches, exploring how art and cinema can generate events and open new perspectives through singular, situated encounters. Her films and visual works have been presented internationally at festivals and exhibitions.
Júlia holds a practice-based PhD in Film and Media from Aarhus University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Visual Arts at the National School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches and develops experimental pedagogies in film and contemporary art. She also works as a script consultant and mentor on film and artistic research projects.
